Important Notice
After October 29, 2019, SalesPad will no longer be supporting CardControl. Additionally, the application will cease to be a PA-DSS validated solution as of this date, and therefore CardControl customers would no longer be PCI compliant.
Instead, SalesPad Desktop now offers built-in credit card processing via Nodus PayFabric. If you have questions or want more information on our credit card processing services, please contact your sales rep.
Overview
Data Migrator is a module in CardControl that allows users to transfer credit cards, credit card transactions, customers, credit card processors, and processor logs from a Non-CC SalesPad build into CardControl. In this document, you will learn how to setup the connection between databases and how to migrate the data from the source database to the target database. Refer to the Security section at the end of the document for relevant securities and settings.
Note: This is a delicate process that should only be run once, after extensively testing the migrated data in a test environment. Make sure that you have a stable connection to the source and the target, and don’t stop the process unless completely necessary. Data Migrator will delete the sensitive data from the source, rendering old data left in GP or Non-CC SalesPad tables unusable.
Preparation
When you log in to CardControl, ensure that you are connecting to the target database. This will be the database for your migrated data. Once inside CardControl, open the Data Migration module.
In the field Connection String, input the target database information. This string will be a semi-colon delimited list like this: ServerName; DatabaseName; UserName; UserPassword.
The Decryption Key, Initial Vector, and Salt Value are all optional fields for security measures that may be in place to protect the data. The Verify Optional Info button will allow you to ensure the data you’ve entered into these fields is accurate before running the Migrator.
The two checkboxes under the optional fields allow you to include manual transactions and transactions made without an authorization code.
Usage
When you are ready to begin migration, click the Process button. The migrator will begin transferring the data. The migration status window will check off each step as it finishes. If you have a large amount of data to transfer, it can take a few hours to complete.
Note: The migration is not guaranteed to move every transaction or card. It will move over as many as it can. It is vital to first run the migration in a test environment to ensure that no essential information is lost.
