Overview
There are many instances in which a user or users need to log out of Sales Pad, such as updating security settings or editing user fields; however, very few situations require users to exit the SalesPad application completely. In many cases though, closing the application completely can be very beneficial. We’ve highlighted the two cases we consider most noticeable, and most beneficial, below.
Updating the Application Date
Microsoft Dynamics GP will alert a user that the system date is different from the application date if the system date changes while that user is logged in. However, SalesPad does not provide this update. By exiting the program each night after logging off, this date is forced to update when the user logs in the next day, ensuring a correct application date for record-keeping purposes.
System Performance
Simply logging out of Sales Pad does not clear the application’s memory usage. Over time, this can cause a marked decrease in performance of both the software and the computer. By closing the program completely at the end of the day, this memory is freed up for other computing uses. More importantly, the software will begin utilizing memory from zero usage again, rather than continuing to build on its previously used allocation. This is particularly important for users that do large amounts of processing in bulk, or on orders with a large number of sales lines.
